About
Melissa Magsaysay

Melissa Magsaysay has been a style writer and editor for the Los Angeles Times Image section for the past 3 and a half years. In addition to conceptualizing fashion stories and interpreting trends, Melissa produces, art directs and styles each shoot for the paper. She also writes weekly style and trend stories. Prior to the Los Angeles Times, she was the west coast fashion market editor at Women's Wear Daily for 3 years-producing and styling fashion stories for one of the industry's most informative and influential publications.

As a stylist and writer Melissa is able to communicate trends, fashion and style advice visually and editorially in her "Your Stylist" column and also through video segments on www.latimes.com.

Everything from the photographs of Henri Cartier-Bresson and the sculptures of Erte to the sound of high heels clacking against a cobblestone street, styling is a visceral experience for Melissa who absorbs the sights, sounds, historical references, and prominent figures which continuously loop through her life and imagination. The images she creates capture these influences and mingles them with East coast prep and the youthful spirit of West coast skate and surf culture.

Whether it's through a fashion spread, advertisement, or written word, her ability to creatively and interestingly convey a trend or a brand is never without keen perspective on what would make the end result the most captivating and inspiring.
